Nashbar L'Orange V.2 Floor Pump - G.O.T.D. April 2013 - Bicycling Magazine
Every cyclist needs a top quality floor pump and in that realm you'll be incredibly well-served with the Nashbar L'Orange V.2 Floor Pump. Not only does it's stunningly orange hue stand out from the crowd, performance-wise it's a marvel of efficiency and sheer pumping power. With plenty of pumps at our disposal here at Nashbar, the L'Orange V.2 is the go-to inflator of choice for quick, effortless inflation - all in an incredibly well-constructed, built to last package.

But don't take our word for it, check out why this Nashbar floor pumped was awarded Bicycling Magazine's G.O.T.D. award in April 2013:

"The new V.2 improves on the features we loved in the original L'Orange, a pump we praised for its ability to move large volumes of air. The 28-inch tall barrel, combined with the long hose, also makes it easy reach bikes mounted in a repair stand.

"To improve durability, Nashbar gave the pump an alloy barrel, and easy-to-service O-ring style cup at the end of a large diameter plunger shaft. The cast aluminum, tripod-style base holds a large, easy-to-read gauge (bold numbers on a white background) with rotating bezel, which makes it easy to hit your preferred pressure. The V.2 also has a turned wood handle that feels great in your hand, a locking alloy pump head, and improved hose clip.

"The hose clip and pump head were my favorites of the new features. I'm left handed and often place my left foot on the base to stabilize it while pumping with only my left hand. The new clip is reversible, so users can choose which side of the pump the hose resides on when not in use, making it easy to grab when you're ready to inflate a tire. It may seem a small detail, but adapting to the user's preferred ergonomics is a nice benefit--one you'll appreciate the more your use your pump. The head still features a release valve to easily lower tire pressure if you pump too much, but it no longer automatically adjusts between presta and Schrader valves. Instead, you get a simpler--and more durable--reversible model that easily grabs even short valve stems. To switch between the two types of valves, users simply unscrew the end of the head and flip it over. Each side is engraved with the type of valve it's meant for, eliminating confusion. The new head design was simple to use and easily locked on to valves with one hand, a bonus when you're inflating a team's worth of bikes."--Mike Yozell

      Awesome

      Bought March 2015.

WAs previously using a smaller frame pump from Topeak. Could only manage around 70psi with that thing, and it took somewhere around 45-50 strokes, which became very difficult with higher pressures.

L'Orange pump is very solid, nice qc, real wood handle, excellent vavle head, pumped my road tires to 120psi in about 8 strokes. I am confident that I could fill a car tire if needed. The valve head has a 30-second learning curve.

      Do you need this? Yes.

I keep this in the trunk of my car. It's always with me when I go on a trip just in case I or someone I might meet up with needs air. AAA and gas stations are good but it's better to be prepared. Waiting for AAA if they are even available where you happen to be may take hours. (I go camping a lot) . If you have this with you, your tire can be filled up in a few minutes. I have filled up a car tire from totally flat with this and it might have taken me about 10 minutes or so.

Great pump - VERY precise gauge (which I love). Can't speak to the long-term durability because I just got it. That being said, it certainly seems rugged enough. You won't be disappointed.

        Solid Pump

        Comments about Nashbar L'Orange V.2 Floor Pump - G.O.T.D. April 2013 - Bicycling Magazine:

I own the version 1 of this pump.
Solid pump. Works great on either presta or schroeder. I use this to pump my mountain bikes, road bikes, and even my car sometimes. It's that good.

Gauge is a little inaccurate since it covers such a big range. I found mine to be like 6psi too low relative to actual pressure in the 20-40psi range. More accurate in the higher ranges of road tire pressure.

Great pump. Large volume per pump means the tires get inflated fast with minimum number of pumps. Easy to read gauge.

            Comments about Nashbar L'Orange V.2 Floor Pump - G.O.T.D. April 2013 - Bicycling Magazine:

Just got the L'Orange v2 in the mail, and I am quite impressed. Love the large dial, wooden handle, long hose, bleed-off valve, and even the cheerful color. Some other reviewers have complained about the presta/schraeder mechanism, so I was a bit worried, but seeing how it actually works I am quite satisfied.

I thought this would be like many portable pumps I have used where the thing to be reversed is a fiddly rubber cylinder that you have to unscrew a cap to get at, and then scrabble with nails or car keys or stick to get it out, flip, reassemble.

Not so. This is a solid, self-contained reversible valve that screws into the head this way or that. The closeup pic in the nashbar page doesn't really tell the whole story, you just see presta head-on, which gave me the impression you have to somehow get the black core out to flip it.

If the pic showed more of the side you would see both front and back are threaded, each presenting one type of valve, just screw it out, screw it in. Easy peasy. Maybe it would get annoying if I switched a lot, but I pump 90% presta anyways.

For years I've heard this was a good pump and I would buy another one tomorrow .
It holds the valve very tight and secure. Very precise. I ride 5 days a week but only pump up my tires on Sunday for a group ride. So their at 80psi. Two pumps later their at 100psi. Three 110. Let's ride! Looks like it will hold up for a while very well made and looks great right out of the box . Very tall pump with a long hose. Glad I finally bought one.
