Nashbar AT1 29er Mountain Bike
If you're looking for a 29" mountain bike that won't break the bank, the Nashbar AT1 29er mountain bike should be your first choice. Comments about Nashbar AT1 29er Mountain Bike:

I am brand new to mountain biking. In fact, I haven't even been on a bike in years. I was looking to enter the hobby without dumping tons of money and after reading several other reviews, settled on the 29er. My only complaint is that the outer chain ring guard came broken so I just removed in entirely - - after all, it is a MOUNTAIN BIKE.

I have put about 30 (hard) miles on it and so far so good.

For sizing: I am 5'11" and 220 lbs. I purchased the large and it seems to fit good.

Comments about Nashbar AT1 29er Mountain Bike:

Bike is a great ENTRY level MTB. Bought on a whim, never had a 29 MTB.I expected less but got more. The color as other stated actual looks better in person. Yes,you can write all day about improvements but that wouldn't be fair for a entry level bike that so far at 210 miles exceeded my expectations. Been riding for 35 years and had "Expensive Bikes" and what some call "Box Bikes". That said, this is as good as it gets with realistic thinking. Entry Level! If you are thinking of getting wheels in air, buy a more expensive bike.

Comments about Nashbar AT1 29er Mountain Bike:

A bit tough getting it set up,(not a mechanic)but well worth the trouble. Step-by-step directions with diagrams would have been nice. Not a touring or racing bike, I want to extend my biking season on a bike that can handle winter roads by being stable on slush and ice. So far, so good!

Comments about Nashbar AT1 29er Mountain Bike:

This bike was not very tough to assemble, however, I took it to a local bike shop to get the derailleurs adjusted. I'm 6'0" tall and ordered the 21" frame which I think is just a little too big for me. It is not that big of a deal or else I would ask to swap it out. It rides very nice around town and I have taken it on a couple of intermediate trails in which it performed nicely. The bigger wheels seem to make the bike go faster with less effort and makes riding over uneven terrain easier. Overall, I am very satisfied with my bike!

Comments about Nashbar AT1 29er Mountain Bike:

This is a really good bike. If you factor the price, it is an outstanding value. I have had a few high end bikes in the last 15 years, so it takes a little getting used to. The shifters aren't perfect, and the rear brake is a bit mushy. But for the money, this is a very solid, comfortable, predictable bike. Whether you ride trails, light Mountain biking or commute, it will surprise you how well it rides.
Also, I had a slight problem with the packing of the bike. When I got it, I could not hang the rear Derailleur. I e mailed Nashbar and they took care of the cost to fix the issue. That is another reason I will always choose Nashbar. This is a great bike, and a great Company.

Great value, solid bike

Comments about Nashbar AT1 29er Mountain Bike:

I commute approx. 50 miles a week through the torn up streets of downtown Seattle and so far (850 miles or so) the bike has performed extremely well.
I took off a rating star for the way the bike arrived. I imagine it left the factory on a Friday afternoon, it was barely put together. I'm not a bike expert but have mechanical experience, it was a bit of a challenge to run the cables and get everything adjusted and dialed in.
Once that was done it's been smooth shifting and pedaling, and a very comfortable ride. Just keep in mind if you are a novice, you may want to take it to a bike shop for final assembly and adjustment.

This bike is not even in the same league as the department store bikes. The quality is great and I finally found something to fit my 6'4" frame. Now we are going to buy a Nashbar brand bike for my wife. I would definately buy this bike again.

Comments about Nashbar AT1 29er Mountain Bike:

I am a large guy, and need a big bike that is durable, and I am not a high mileage user, so I don't need an expensive bike, just one that is durable and attractive. This is the PERFECT bike for me. I like it so much, I just purchased a smaller AT1 for my partner that is arriving in September (to replace a worn out IRONHORSE.)

Sadly, we are both without bikes now, as the AT1 I just bought is not yet here, and both my AT1 29-er and the Ironhorse were just stolen. Unfortunately after just paying for the other AT1, I don't have funds to replace my 29-er. I will absolutely be saving for a replacement soon. Miss my red beast.
