Comments about Nashbar Flat Bar Road Bike:

My 13 year old daughter has shown interest in road cycling with me. We split the cost of this bike, which was on clearance for a very affordable price. I was glad we could get her something of good quality for her to explore whether cycling is for her or not. We have been enjoying riding together. Thank you, Nashbar!

Comments about Nashbar Flat Bar Road Bike:

I'd give it a one star because of the bad experience, but I can't because of the very fair/reasonable customer service. They worked with me because they ran out of stock for my 21inch frame size while in the return process matching the sale price I bought the flat bar road bike on and counted it towards any other bike from the website. They also gave me free shipping waiving the overweight shipping cost in addition to giving me free expedited shipping because I've been waiting three weeks now without a bike... At this point that's what I'm most disappointing about, but they did seem to genuinely care about their products and back them up with fair customer service. And for that I'm giving this a 3 star review as I think that's really important to know when buying a product online. So thumbs up in that department!
To explain what was wrong with the bike. I got the bike and the main bracket where the pedals and chain rings attach to where rotating horribly off in an oblonged manner. It was so bad the pedal's couldn't be spun without the chain significantly rubbing the derailer every rotation (I would be afraid of it derailing the chain with each rotation it was that bad bending the chain off a straight line so much).

Below, I can't recommend this bike to a friend if I was never able to ride the bike!

I read the reviews here but didn't find many reviews on thrid part websites. The reviews here seemed to say" as good as a $500 name brand bike but without the name brand parts". No true at all. The bike is heavy and clunky the the green color is horrible. The parts are cheap. I do like the shimano parts, they may be low-end but they function well. I had a problem with the bottom bracket and support told me to take it to the local bike shop. Not such a good deal tacking on a bike repair bill right away. I do not recommend this bike. Go buy a cheap Giant.

Comments about Nashbar Flat Bar Road Bike:

I was looking at the Trek 7 and 8 series bikes, which varied in price between $570 and $900 at a local bike shop. I have never owned a road bike before, but checked this site out based on a family member's suggestion. I took a shot on this (reviews were great, price was even better). So far, I have completed over 100 miles in 3 weeks, and I love this bike. I had a kickstand installed when the bike shop built it, and also picked up a gel seat (agreed with the other reviews that the stock seat was very uncomfortable). I use the bike mainly on the roads, it handles dirt/gravel better than I expected, but I only drive through that since some of the roads around here are rough from the winter. I have already recommended it to 2 people who are looking for a similar platform road bike.

Comments about Nashbar Flat Bar Road Bike:

I ride this bike around Brooklyn, NY for errands, a couple of times a week to work (which includes a trip over the Manhattan Bridge), or for occasional recreational bar hopping type days.

For the cost, so far, it's great. But take it to a shop and get it set up after you attempt to put it together. The documentation in the box and online isn't great, and you'll probably do something wrong that you'll need fixed.

Comments about Nashbar Flat Bar Road Bike:

Was looking for the most bike I could get in this price range. Wanted something to ride with the kids/use to workout but better than a box store. I found this bike online and glad I purchased.

                  Would recommend to others.

Only issue I noticed is the pedals are low to the ground so taking hard turns fast will cause the pedals to scrape the ground.

Comments about Nashbar Flat Bar Road Bike:

I really enjoy this bike, I'm 5'10" with 30" inseam, so short in the leg and long in the torso and the 21" frame fits me great and in my opinion is the correct size. Out of the box, only the brakes needed tuning/attention. I had hard shifts on the front derailleur but after a little cable stretch it settled down. Components that I found uncomfortable where the pedals (too small), seat (too hard), and grips (too chunky). Otherwise, its performs great as a basic bike for exercise and getting around town on streets and paths.

Comments about Nashbar Flat Bar Road Bike:

I was looking for something to ride with the family, and perhaps a little casual travel. This fit the bill. Easy to assemble, easy to ride, easy to upgrade. I'm 5'11", and ordered the 21 inch frame. The 19" frame was probably the correct size. This is a good all around bicycle, better than big box store quality, lower price.
