Giro Factor Road Shoes - Closeout
Giro is kind of a Johnny-come-lately to the shoe category... but all that means is that it gave them a chance to do right what everyone else seems to be doing wrong. Things like understanding that not everyone has the same foot shape, or that a shoe can be both stiff as all get out and comfortable at the same time. That's why we love the Giro Factor road shoes. Not only do they have an incredible Easton EC90 carbon fiber sole with unmatched stiffness and power transfer, and the Teijin microfiber upper breathes well and is uber-comfy. But what we really love is the SuperNatural fit kit, that lets you customize the shoes to fit your feet. It comes with three different arch supports to help fight foot fatigue and arch cramps, so you always have proper alignment and a good pedal stroke motion. We admit, at first we were skeptical, but after trying it out, we started using the SuperNatural fit kit in all of our shoes. So if you need a pair of shoes that truly fits you, with a lightweight, superstiff sole and a soft, comfortable upper, you can't go wrong with the Giro Factor.
  • Easton EC90 unidirectional carbon outsole is optimized for weight-savings, vibration-damping, stiffness and power transfer
  • Teijin microfiber upper is lightweight, tough and conforms to your foot for a snug fit
  • SuperNatural Fit Kit is a cycling-specific footbed which allows you to customize the level of arch support for enhanced power, efficiency and comfort
  • X-Static antimicrobial fiber footbed construction blends comfortable cushioning with effective moisture management
  • Wide offset straps, including a "D-ring" mid-foot strap, eliminate pressure points for a comfortable fit
  • Strong and secure ratcheting buckle

Comments about Giro Factor Road Shoes - Closeout:

These shoes seem shorter then my current ones, but are longer on the inside and more comfortable. No idea how that happens. They are a tad narrow, but overall fit as I expected. My big concern is the plastic covered outside. My old shoes were leather and lasted a very long time. I would expect these to last a while but in the end, I expect that plastic or vinyl outside to crack. It may not, but that is the impression I get. They are not a lightweight as I expected, being only 10 grams per shoe lighter yet supposedly 6 or 7 years ahead in technology. I would buy these again however, especially at the closeout price.

These shoes meet all expectations, plus. The upper is very soft and supple so it conforms to your foot while allowing for a snug fit. It is true to size. I wear a size 8 woman shoe and the 39.5 fits perfectly.

      • Sizing Runs Small

Comments about Giro Factor Road Shoes - Closeout:

The sizing runs small. Despite my being an 8 1/2 Woman's, I tried one size UP, a 40 and they are still very snug width-wise (though the toe box is roomy). This is ok on a cool day but given a HOT day they were unbearable. The shoe gets very hot (and I'm normally pretty cool-footed) to the point that feet swell slightly and the shoe becomes far too tight. Very painful.
Otherwise, I love the custom arch supports, the classy red/white look, and the stiff carbon sole. But these will not do for hot weather riding. sigh.

Stiff, good fit, light, easy to adjust on the go. Highlighter yellow color faded quickly and the shoes look pathetic now. Thank goodness I'm not a fashionista!

During warmer weather, I try to ride 10-25 miles each day. The shoes are light, stiff and comfortable. No hot spots. As always, nashbar offered a great price!

Comments about Giro Factor Road Shoes - Closeout:

I have extremely wide feet. I normally wear an 11-11.5 street shoe, as wide as I can get. I was surprised at how well this felt in a 48. Doesn't feel too long, and the 48 is wide enough for my EEE-EEEE feet. Doesn't work as well in winter, when I double up on thick socks, at least not with a thick Superfeet insole. Insole system is OK, but I'm now using a thinner Superfeet model. Sole seems nice and stiff after a year. Solid, light shoe, especislly if you get it at a good price.

These shoes look great and fit perfectly. I am usually nervous about buying anything online that has Euro sizing, but these shoes in size 46.5 fit my size 11.5 feet perfectly. Very comfortable right out of the box. My speedplay cleats attached easily and I am very, very satisfied with my purchase.

Comments about Giro Factor Road Shoes - Closeout:

Love these shoes. The 3 different arch support inserts are nice. The tongue of the shoe rides a little high on my ankle and I have to make sure the notch in the tongue adjusted correctly. It may still be a pressure point later on. Easton carbon in the sole and the shoes appear quite durable (unlike some italian-brand road shoes that wouldn't last if you walked more than a few steps in them after getting off the bike.) I was a little worried about the hi-lighter yellow color at first but now that I have them I think it's a really nice accent.
