Ascent Mag 3-L Trainer
Achieve new heights in fitness with the Ascent Mag 3-L Trainer. The beauty of its magnetic resistance unit is the ability to select the level of resistance you want to utilize - in this case three levels, in the realms of Peaceful Sunday Cruise to Hill Repeat Delirium. The level of resistance is set right on the unit itself and of course you've got the full run of gears on your bike to further fine-tune the exertion level. The amount of noise generated is rather low as well so there'll be no need to crank the volume to high decibels as you enjoy your favorite tunes, DVDs, or TV shows for the duration of your workouts. This magnetic resistance trainer is perfect for indoor training at home when weather or lack of daylight puts a damper on riding outdoors and it's also portable enough to be the ideal means for getting warmed-up and ready to rock at a race.

Purchased this as a gift for my girlfriend. Set-up was easy, about 5 minutes. Product is sturdy and folds nicely for storage. Knobby MTB tire was loud on the roller, so ordered a slick....should quite things down nicely.

Comments about Ascent Mag 3-L Trainer:

Sound isn't too bad, definitely able to watch TV at a reasonable volume. Three resistance settings are decent, I spend most of my time in the hardest one and I'm not a really serious cyclist. You don't need to buy a front wheel stand but do consider a trainer tire for your rear wheel.
In my second week of use (30-45 minutes/day, 4-5 days/week) an internal part got loose and it started making a weird noise and malfunctioning. Easy enough to fix but it would be a pain if this were a recurring issue.
Overall, good buy for the money, good first trainer for a casual cyclist, would recommend.

Great product for the price! Great quality. I've had a trainer with more cable-operated resistance settings, but rarely if ever used them. this unit is sooo much quieter than the other one. This one folds down tighter too, to transport in your car or put aside till next use. Don't spend money you don't need to spend, this will make you sweat, and feel good about a training session.

Probably hard to beat this trainer for the Nashbar sale price. It does exactly what I expected although it isn't particularly silent. I can listen to NPR (National Public Radio) while spinning, but dialog can hard to make out. Overall I'm pleased with the gadget.

I'm in my 60's and had a knee replacement 9 months ago. Bicycling has always been a part of my life and have found riding great therapy for the knee. I bought the trainer so I can spin everyday. I had a wind trainer years ago but find this much quieter.
