Ascent Fluid Trainer

Bring your indoor workouts to new heights with the Ascent Fluid Trainer - the perfect purveyor of quiet, smooth resistance on a rock solid frame. The fluid resistance unit provides a progressive, high intensity workout that will have you feeling the burn in no time. That's the beauty of the fluid unit - there's no need to worry about clamping a lever to your handlebars to adjust resistance as you simply use your bike's gears plus vary your pedaling RPMs to vary the workout intensity. It really does replicate what it feels like to ride outside! And it's quiet enough that you can enjoy whatever media you prefer while training without having to jack up the decibels to overcome an incessant, irksome drone.

It comes fully assembled out of the box, so just put the skewer in your rear wheel (the included rear skewer is optimized to fit into the fluid trainer's support cups - what you have already may not fit), clamp your bike into the frame and start pedaling away. This fluid trainer is perfect for indoor training at home when weather or lack of daylight puts a damper on riding outdoors and it's also portable enough to be the perfect means for getting warmed-up and ready to rock at a race.

  • Fluid resistance unit utilizes a steel flywheel to create a smooth, road-like feel for your indoor cycle training workouts
  • Steel frame folds to a compact size making it easy to store or transport
  • Rubber feet dampen noise and vibration
  • Includes a steel quick release skewer

    Comments about Ascent Fluid Trainer:

This is my first bike trainer, and so far, I am very pleased with this product. I bought this trainer to help with my physical therapy for a knee surgery, and I like that it works like it says it does. I can pedal in a low gear with very little resistance and add difficulty from there. I am also impressed with how quiet it is. I have a hard tail mountain bike mounted to it with some lightly treaded tires and it doesn't make enough noise that I can't speak at a normal volume. For what some trainers can cost, I am very happy to have started with this one.

My wife is afraid to ride her bike at the street along side passing cars, with our sched we can't really ride together on weekends, so I bought this as a birthday gift to her & she loves it, working out at home while watching her favorite shows.

        Comments about Ascent Fluid Trainer:

This was my first trainer and I didn't want to spend a lot of money in case it didn't work for me. It arrived quickly and I found it to be very sturdy and well made, especially as it's one of the cheaper trainers. It actually works well, is reasonably quiet and smooth once the fluid warms a bit. The instructions call for an additional 1 1/2 to 2 turns once the roller contacts the wheel but I found 1/2 turn on my bike was plenty. The rear tire's tread has become a bit flatted which might have made a difference. It's a bit tricky at first getting the bike mounted and the supplied skewer doesn't quite match the quality of the trainer but it does work. I don't leave it on to ride, though. I made a block to raise the front wheel 2 1/2"

        Comments about Ascent Fluid Trainer:

I like the durability of this stand, it's my first of any kind of indoor cycling. It was very easy to set up and get my first ride in on it.

I was really hoping for more resistance from it though, that is probably the one thing that un-impresses me the most.

It's a little noisy but with headphones in its not bad.

            Comments about Ascent Fluid Trainer:

This is a well constructed liquid trainer that I've used for hour+ training sessions on both a hybrid and a road bike. It's very easy to set up, reasonably smooth if you fine tune the roller height, and sturdy enough to handle 260 lbs of me cranking away without wobbling. If you use it with slicks, it's not annoyingly loud; at least you can enjoy a television show at normal volume while on it. It's a great entry-level piece of equipment for the money. If you want more bells and whistles, spend more :)

              Comments about Ascent Fluid Trainer:

The trainer is small, works well. I didn't buy a mat as well, just use a large piece of cardboard. I would recommend something to elevate the front tire (I used a kneeling garden bench with a semi-rigid foam bottom) for the slight decline caused by the elevated rear. I would also recommend not tightening the rear wheel against the fly quite as much as the instructions state unless you get a lot of slipping.

                Comments about Ascent Fluid Trainer:

my first bike trainer, i wanted something to maintain my leg strength and cardio fitness , and as much as the trainer isn't even as close to fun as mountain biking, neither is going out to the trails and not having the fitness to just enjoy the riding.Im happy with this trainer , sturdy easy to use, I suggest having a fan on you, and building or buying a block to lift the front tire to a comfortable angle, If it last I would go back and give it 5 stars,I'll let you know.

                  Comments about Ascent Fluid Trainer:

I purchased the Ascent fluid trainer since I am currently unable to ride on the road while recovering from eye surgery (doctor's orders). I can use the trainer as it provides a non jarring motion. It will also provide a great training alternative to riding on afternoons when it is raining heavily once I am healed.

Ordering was easy and the product was received on the date promised. It was easy to set up and use and gives me a good workout and seems to provide resistance similar to riding on flat roads as are common here in Florida. Although it was relatively inexpensive compared to other fluid trainers I found advertised (especially since it was on sale at the time of purchase), I found it to be well made and very stable. I have only had it for a few weeks at this point so I cannot comment on its durability, but so far there have been no issues.

Based on my experience with this purchase I would recommend the Ascent fluid trainer to anyone looking for a basic well made and inexpensive product of this type and Nashbar for their reasonable prices and good service.

                    Comments about Ascent Fluid Trainer:

This trainer is easy to use and it has a manual that you can read before using the product, and also we have to take out the clincher of the bike and use the one that comes with the trainer, but don't worry, everything is included and the worst part it is that wear out the tires very fast, so be prepare to replace it once in a while. Overall, it is a great product.
