Nashbar Fluid Trainer
Bike trainers can get pretty elaborate and pretty pricey, but many cyclists just like to set it up and knock out a ride. Queue the Nashbar Fluid Trainer to experience the ultimate marriage of value, simplicity, and performance. Nashbar's new fluid resistance unit uses an internal flywheel system guaranteeing smooth, consistent delivery of a life-like pedal stroke. The bigger the gear and the more RPMs you generate, the harder the workout. Simple. Just as important, it's quiet enough that you can enjoy whatever media you prefer while training without having to jack up the decibels to overcome the trainer's noise. Plus, easy setup and teardown (with zero cords, cables, or power to worry about) makes it ideal not just for in-home workouts but bring it to a race, too, for the perfect means to get warmed-up and ready to rock.
  • Internal flywheel/fluid system provides excellent resistance and life-like pedal stroke
  • Super simple setup great for bringing along for race warm-ups, travelling, moving around the house
  • Rear quick release skewer included to ensure your bike attaches perfectly
  • Rubber feet on bottom of unit prevent slippage and floor scuffing

I like that you can put a 29" bike on it. I bought a slick for my mountain bike and it is real quiet when I exercise. This seems to be a good product for the price.

      Comments about Nashbar Fluid Trainer:

This is an excellent bike trainer, good resistance for those at-home training sessions, and it folds up nicely whenever you need the extra space.

The only setback that I had is that the instructions were not all to clear on how to setup the trainer. The parts aren't labeled and I believe that Nashbar assumes that you already know what the different pieces are. This was the first trainer I purchased so that part wasn't all to helpful.

Other than that, the trainer is great and I do not regret purchasing it at all.

I got this one one sale, when I got it looks good. the instructions were hard to understand but after I figured it out it was no big deal. first few minutes you won't feel any tension but thats ok cuz I like to warm up my legs. but after its warmed up wow get ready for a workout. this is best for winter months when weather is not so good outside

It would be very hard to find a better trainer for the money! I was happy see that this item is made in Italy instead of China which I believe has an effect on its construction. The only negative comment that I can share is that it is not as stable as it could be when riding in a standing position maybe the frame would benefit from being a little wider.

          Comments about Nashbar Fluid Trainer:

Have this set up in my basement and have been using during the winter months in MA. This trainer is easy to set up, and quiet. It takes about 10 minutes for the fluid to warm up and the resistance to set in, but you can easily shift through your gears to compensate. I've been using it for three weeks and for the price, it is great value. I'm able to keep a steady cadence, feels like you're on the road.

              Comments about Nashbar Fluid Trainer:

After reading many of the reviews I decided to go ahead and purchase this trainer, though with reservations. It just seemed that the price couldn't be beat. It has actually turned out to be a great investment! It is not all plastic, as some reviewers have stated. There is plastic covering the metal frame. However. If you look at the inside of the frame you will find metal. The crossbar that rests on the floor is heavy duty plastic. It operates extremely smoothly, almost a true road feel. The longer I pedal, the more resistance. I love the handle that secures the back wheel into the trainer - so much more convenient than other trainers I have used. I looked for used trainers on Craigslist in my area, and they all cost more than this new (used the 25% Nashbar discount available at the time).

This is my first indoor trainer for biking in the off season on Triathlon. It was affordable and it's quiet enough to use while my little guy is sleeping in the same room.

                    Comments about Nashbar Fluid Trainer:

Bought for personal use, to help maintain through the winter months, and help rehab after an injury. I was a little leery about a previous review that described plastic construction...not true...the unit is sturdy steel, but with a plastic non-structural overlay. Not difficult set-up. Holds my Tri bike fine. I skipped both the front wheel riser (I use a simple 2x4 instead) and sweat bikini (really?). Low noise claims are true - TV volume does not need to be as high as with treadmill. Only downside is the variability of the resistance...it seems the fluid viscosity in the 'Made in Italy' unit actually increases with heat, and it seems to occur in a consistent 2-step fashion. No worries, though, I just drop a gear, and I'm good...or pretend I just hit a hill and make my workout tougher. Not at all a problem for users who are a little flexible, especially frugal ones.
