Comments about Vuelta Corsa SLR Road Wheelset:

Very smooth bearings. They accelerate more easily than my stock wheels and I can climb in one gear higher. Rear wheel needed slight truing, easily done, and front wheel was perfect.

Comments about Vuelta Corsa SLR Road Wheelset:

Over the last three years, I have purchased three sets of the SLR rims and have used them both for training and for long-distance endurance cycling. I can honestly say that these rims are ready to go from the box to the road and they perform way above what you would expect for the price. Great on hills and fast on flats. Never a dull moment with these wheels on my bike.

Great lightweight budget wheels. Spun true right out of the box. Weighed in at 800+ grams for the rear and around 650 for the front. Hubs seem durable, have a good solid free hub body, with solid clicking.

Comments about Vuelta Corsa SLR Road Wheelset:

Bought these three weeks ago as an upgrade to my basic Bontrager wheels on my Trek 2.1. So far so good. These wheels are significantly lighter although twitchier than the Bontrager wheels. I have felt a difference in downhill speed and uphill. I use the 26 or 28 instead of the 30 or 32 gears on my standard route hills. The speed increase on flats is not as great as going up or downhill but there is a noticeable increase/difference. Came out of the box true and seem to be well constructed. I would recommend for those that are looking for an upgrade from basic gear.

Comments about Vuelta Corsa SLR Road Wheelset:

Just broke front spoke on my second pair of Vuelta Corsa SLR wheels. The cheap aluminum nipples had a fair amount of corrosion. This is the EXACT same problem I with my first pair. The first pair lased 9500 miles, this second pair lasted 7000 miles. I've replaced the nipple, but I know from past experience with these wheels this fix won't last.

Bottom Line: They're OK and inexpensive, but don't expect them to last.

Comments about Vuelta Corsa SLR Road Wheelset:

I'm a DIY guy who loves to tinker and measures everything over again. The Vuelta wheels came well packaged but the rear was not true. Got it on my truing setup and spoke tension tool. The spoke tensions were not consistent. The lateral truing was actually not bad so a little bit of adjustment got it in shape. I ended up looking at the front wheel s too. They were fairly true, but spoke tension was also not consistent so made some minor adjustments. These wheels spin well. Rim is decent. Flat spokes feel/look of moderate quality, but allowed me to glue my rare earth magnet on a flat surface for speed/cadence measurements. Fit and finish overall is OK. Skewers were fairly heavy so replaced with my previous set. Overall for the price and the little bit of work, it is a great value. Mounted some latex tubes with conti GP 4000ii and it's a great feeling wheel. Would recommend. I'm 5'7" 155lb rider with gear on so these wheels should be more than sufficient to manage my weight. Only time will tell how long these wheels will hold their true. Will update when I've gotten a few more miles on them. So far great for the hilly area in Seattle.

Comments about Vuelta Corsa SLR Road Wheelset:

I bought these when they were still 10 speed, with the old bold graphics. They felt a little less stiff compared to my Vuelta Corsa Lites, but I rode them for a season anyway.

After upgrading the freehub body to 11 speed from Vuelta, I can no longer get the preload on the rear bearings right. Too tight, and the hub won't spin when coasting. Too loose, and the hub has lateral movement. The only way to adjust the preload is with two hex wrenches inserted into either side of the axle. I've tried every possible torque, and am now just living with 2mm of lateral play at the rim. This is especially noticeable when standing.

I also own 2 sets of the Corsa Lite wheels and recommend them to my teammates. Hub adjustment is better, they have regular spokes, and overall the wheels feel stiffer.

Final verdict, go with Vuelta, just not these.

I broke a rim on a pothole on a four day tour. Nashbar will only sell a complete set and you can't get replacement hoops from Vuelta (the hole patterns are different. In short, they're great as long as you don't use them

I was basically hoping to buy some speed. Keep hearing best upgrade for speed is wheel set. Being on budget can't spend a fortune on wheels. I really don't think these increased my average speed that much but feel like they made a slight difference.

Comments about Vuelta Corsa SLR Road Wheelset:

This was a replacement wheelset due to a freehub body problem with a recent Corsa Lite wheelset. Nashbar offered excellent customer support in making this exchange. Switched to SLR's when the Lites were on back order. So far these wheels have been excellent. True out of the box and have stayed that way. They weighed 1490 grams on my digital scale w/o skewers.- add 116 grams for them. I like the straight pull spokes. Understated graphics (barely readable) may be an issue for some but they don't clash with my bike like some bolder graphics would. I've had Lites in the past and now these SLR's. Can't tell you which I like more - SLR's a little lighter but Lites have deeper rims. Take your pick - you can't go wrong either way. These are very good wheels at a very competitive price.
