Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire
The Michelin Krylion Carbon road tire is an extremely durable clincher, yet retains a superb ride quality. The key to its durability is its thicker center tread. It's reinforced with carbon, which gives you 30% more tread life, so it's not unusual to get thousands of miles on these great all-around tires. Ideal for racing or long-distance training, these tires also deliver a superb grip in wet or dry conditions and are highly resistant to cuts and punctures. They feel sublime, as well, out on the road due to the 127 TPI casing which creates an extra supple ride.

  • High mileage

Iniitial Feedback after 75 miles

By MS Rider

Comments about Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire:

200 lb rider on a full carbon road bike. 23 mm tires inflated to 105 psi, on Mavic Aksium wheelset. Initial feedback after 75 miles on dry asphalt (varying quality from smooth to very rough) is that these tires are noticeably smoother riding, and more comfortable than stock Mavic Aksium tires. I hope they last, because they are wonderful to ride on.

Comments about Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire:

The Krylion model was discontinued for a while and I'm happy to see them come back. I'm riding on brand X that replaced my old Krylions that finally wore out after over 3000 miles. I'll be lucky to get 1500 miles out of these brand X, then it's back to my Krylions. I ride mostly on the side of some major roads which are covered with rocks, trash and broken glass. Many of the back road I ride on are tar and chip which is about the same as riding on broken glass, until it's been down for a month or so. The Krylion's have outlasted all other tires I've tried. They go on easily without tools (this depends on your rims so yours may or may not)and ride like a dream, both for comfort and control. They don't flat as often as most other tires which is a big plus for me....Welcome back Krylions!!

Comments about Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire:

They are a bit tight to mount but are decent weight and have pretty good road feel for a general training tire. Only have a few hundred miles on them so far so I don't know about wear and puncture resistance. So far, with the special price on Nashbar along with the extra percentage on top of that, it was a super deal. I bought a bundle of them at that price.

Been using krylions for several years. I usually get around 1200 miles from rear tires and 1800 from front. Yes I know I should rotate them but that's probably not going to happen.

Comments about Michelin Krylion Carbon Road Tire:

I placed this tire on my rear wheel. I read the instructions for proper inflation. After 1100 miles, the tread wore down to the casing. And due to the higher pressure recommended by the manufacturer, my rim cracked around 5-6 spoke holes. These holes had reinforcing eyelets too. I used a comparable tire by a different manufacturer on the same rear wheel, and got 3000 miles of use and no rim damage.

If you are going to buy this tire, don't inflate above 100 PSI.
