Giro Berm Mountain Bike Shoe (Black/Citron Green) (48)
i got these shoes because of the hard sole. Not to ride in but to use as general get-around shoes. I know how shoes are sized and I can always buy one that fits me day one. The problem with riding shoe sizing people don't understand how a shoe is sized properly. On all shoes, the number on the box doesn't indicate the length of the shoe. The number tells you where the shoe is set for the arch position. All too often riding shoes are sized for the length of the foot and most guys have short toes in comparison to their arch size. Then the guy buys a shoe that's too short for them and find out the ball of the foot doesn't rest right over the center of the pedal axel. To add to that problem, You Tube has these "fit specialists" that rationalized why the ball of the foot doesn't need to be right above the strongest position on the pedal for the best power transfer. Why do they do this? Because they don't know how to fit a cycling shoe (or any shoe) to the rider so they speak as though they know what they're talking about when they don't. I've listened to a few videos and find my way of sizing a shoe to a foot and then fitting the shoe to the peddle makes my job easy. I have marathon runners that I size their feet and they can't believe what I size them for but when they try on their fit, they instantly feel the difference.
