This is a great dropper post with a little bit of suspension built in. If your goal is a suspension post to smooth out chatter and absorb the small stuff like a traditional, dedicated springy post (think Cane Creek Thud buster), this isn't it. The bigger bumps is where you will find relief, still with average dampening and squish performance. I've fiddled with the air pressure quite a bit and it helped, but nothing I would consider "game changing" or monumentally relieving for back pain. That said, the post works really well serving it's primary purpose as a dropper. Top notch quality in its construction and materials, very responsive, predictable, and consistent up and down. I think it's priced similarly to droppers of the same quality and performance without the added suspension perk, so I'd recommend trying it out (being that you're not paying an exorbitant amount extra for this feature), but don't get your hopes up thinking that it's going to solve back pain or make for a buttery smooth ride.

I will also say that I wish it came with a cable stop to install a cable from the other end (at the dropper lever). This is hard to explain, but I have a Race Face turbine lever that the cable inserts from here (using the barrel molded stop end from the brake/shift cable) and is cut/trim at the actuation of the post. This is reverse to use with PNW's range of levers where the cable is inserted at the dropper post and then cut/crimped at the handle bar lever. I hope that makes sense. Have a look at PNW's video install tutorials for further clarification. I had to fabricate a barrel stop of my own to use an aftermarket/non PNW lever.
