Stems are a component easily overlooked on a bicycle. Often times, they only get swapped to change length for fit. Why else would you change one? Wren seems to think you should because they have designed a stem that is 3D forged of light AL7050 alloy. Wren forges the stems as opposed to CNC machining as it allows for better grain structure and strengthens the material. What's this mean to you? How about a stem that is significantly lighter and stronger than the one that came on your bike and than most aftermarket stems. Too good to be true? Wren sweetens the deal by making it one of the best values on the market!

Wren Super Lightweight Alloy Stem (Black) (31.8mm) (40mm) (6°)
Be forewarned that this is very light weight and uses bar mounting bolts half the diameter of regular road stems. If your planning on using any stem mount devices such as out front computer mounts or GoPro mounts you can forget it, because none of the mount bolting systems are compatible. This is not made evident in the product description. I bought this stem, because it was one of the only ROAD stems out there that was that short of length being 40mm without having to resort to a MTB stem. Its well made, but just does not inspire confidence in its overall strength and endurance for hour after hour of flexing on those small bolts. There was more flex in the bars with this stem on. Would it have failed ? I don't know, and didnt want to find out the hard way, so I returned it. Oh BTW, when I returned it to Nashbar, all I got was a return authorization form and no return label, just a return address & instructions. So that was all on me, with UPS to the tune of $11.95 to return a $49.99 product. Not sure I want to deal with Nashbar any further either. I wrote to their customer service link, and to date, no reply to my dissatisfaction email. This is after purchasing a complete Ultegra groupo 2 weeks earlier. Dunno, just no customer care or concern that Ive seen so far. Also, no refund to date, still waiting on that status for 10 days + so far. Nashbar is quick to take your money, but when you're not happy with a product, not so quick to with refunds or customer service replies. I think this is farewell Nashbar. Im sure this will never get posted...!!
