Giro Syntax MIPS Helmet Description:

The Giro Syntax MIPS Helmet is known for its relentless performance and style. Syntax MIPS combines a touch of European flair with slightly deeper coverage and high-performance features, all tucked into a very slim design. The outer shell is molded from a tough polycarbonate that is fused permanently to the EPS foam liner using Giro's In-Mold construction process to enhance durability and ventilation without excess bulk. The fit is luxurious and secure, thanks to Giro's highly adjustable Roc Loc 5 Air MIPS system that allows you to customize fit/feel for great stability and long-range comfort. Another benefit is integrated MIPS which can provide an added measure of protection from rotational forces in the event of an angled impact.

Features:

  • 2-Piece in-mold design combines the hard outer shell with the liner for greater durability an minimal weight
  • MIPS protection redirects rotational impact forces away from the head for more piece of mind
  • Roc Loc 5 Air Fit system suspends the helmet off of the skull for more breathability and a cooler ride
  • Adjustable fit system is easy to custom tune in seconds
  • Wind tunnel designed ventilation is efficient ad effective

Giro Syntax MIPS Road Helmet (Matte Black) (M)
I debated between this Giro and a similar priced Bell Helmet. I usually wear Bell, but wanted to try something different. My last helmet wasn't a MIPs and I wanted the extra protection which both of my choices had. The Giro does weight quite a bit more then my non-MIPs Bell, but I assume that I'll get used to that. The other downside I found was that sweat poured down my face on my first test ride which was a major disappointment (The similarly priced Bell boasted a sweat channel). Hopefully, I'll get the helmet dialed in and it will give me years of comfortable protection.

Helmet Measurements:

  • Wrap a measuring tape around your head
  • Make sure that tape is level from front to back
  • Note measurement and reference Size Chart
Circumference (cm)
S52 - 55.5cm
M55.5 - 59cm
L59 - 62.5cm
XL62.5 - 65cm

Note: Make sure the helmet fits with a little room when the fit system is loose, and sits low enough to protect your forehead without hindering your vision. Once you've got the right size, you can adjust the fit.

How to Adjust Fit:

  1. Adjust the fit system at the rear of the helmet for a snug, secure fit. Some helmets also include a vertical tuning feature that allows you to adjust the fore/aft tilt, for optimal positioning on your head.
  2. Adjust the straps so that they sit just below the earlobes.
  3. Adjust the buckle so that it rests against the back of the jaw/throat.
  4. Adjust the interior pads if needed.
  5. Check the fit to make sure helmet is comfortable and secure. It should not roll forward or back, or be able to slide off.

Note: All measurements are provided by the manufacturer and may vary depending on how measurements are acquired.
